Our Mission
When I started Dilly’s Mobile in 2015, I had the goal of helping my friends and family with their mechanical needs. Unfortunately making a living is a required element. After working hard to build a business that will support my family I have realized that 1- I cannot help everyone 2-Getting too busy building a business, makes it hard to help friends and family the way they need. In 2023, I realized that I had gotten so busy trying to help everyone that I was no longer helping anyone.
This business has transitioned several times over the years trying to take on the impossible by myself only to realize just that. Our goal with the 2023 adjustments is to focus on taking care of a few Fleets and freeing up the rest of my time for Friends and Family. (The original goal) Any spare time aside from doing that, will be dedicated to producing YouTube Videos. I hope these videos will allow me to share the information I have, in hopes of helping all of my extended friends and family be better car owners and be able to find better mechanics.
About Us
Dilly’s Mobile was opened in 2015. Within a short time, we enjoyed awesome growth as the word spread, and customers enjoyed the convenience. With over 20 Years of experience in Mechanical services ranging from repairing massive drill rigs to manufacturing engineering for a hybrid electric car company, I am thrilled about the opportunity I have to serve you. As we have grown, my wife (Heather) has started helping behind the scenes to make sure parts are ordered and inventory is maintained. While she does not know enough about mechanical repair to do quoting or other customer-related tasks, she has been a huge help to keep things going.
While Mobile mechanics are a somewhat new concept, we have been around for a while and now the industry is exploding in popularity both with mechanics as well as customers. It is important to note being a mobile mechanic is very different than being in a shop as a Mechanic. We have to act as a Marketing, Accounting, Web designer, legal, and facilities person all at the same time. In the past almost 10 years. I have learned a lot doing all of it and am sure I still have a lot to learn. Every year we have made changes to the business to make it easier to maintain, better for our customers, more streamlined and more sustainable.
Terms and Policies
Types of work I do
I do almost all mechanical repairs on everything from Bicycles to large trucks and everything in between. All kinds of work except Glass, body paint, internal transmission, or bottom engine rebuilding, the rest is pretty much a go. This is strategic so that I can take care of all of your mechanical needs enabling us to know what has been and what needs to be done. I hate “Overselling” items that are not needed. That is impossible if other mechanics are servicing your vehicle other than us. (that includes quick lube oil change businesses)
Rates
Our standard rates are as follows:
Standard Labor rate is 130/hr
Cancellations
Because of all the “Moving parts” in ensuring we are able to complete your services and repairs, Ideally, Cancellations need to be communicated the Monday morning before the Appointment. A minimum of 24 hours notice is required.
No-shows and Late Cancelations
-Standard customers: get ONE with a $25 no-show fee annually. After that, any No-show/late cancelations after that, the fee will be the scheduled labor time and service fee. – Any unpaid fees will result in no longer being a customer
Preferred customers and Fleets: Get 3 strikes with a $25 fee annually / After that, he fee will be the scheduled labor time and service fee. – Any unpaid fees will result in no longer being a customer
Communications & Phone Calls
I don’t do phone calls unless it is the absolute last option. This allows me to focus on the work I am doing. Text, Emails, and this website are the best ways to communicate. In most cases, I cannot answer technical questions about your asset unless I am on site and can hear/see/feel/ or experience what you are asking about. If you absolutely must get your questions answered feel free to book a Diagnostics appointment. (standard rates apply)
Bargain Hunting
If you are always on the hunt for the best deal. Please look elsewhere. I am not the cheapest service provider. Nor am I able to constantly provide estimates for work that you really don’t want me to do. I always try to be the best for a reasonable price.
Provided Parts
This is a common question so let’s clear this up now. Although we are not against you providing your own parts, due to liability issues we are not allowed to install customer-supplied parts. We do however do our best to be competitive in our pricing and often can get it for the same price as you for quality trusted parts.
Warranty
All work is covered by a 30 day Labor warranty unless noted otherwise
Parts are covered by their own warranty and will be indicated on the paperwork for the job
Changes to agreement and terms
All of these terms are subject to change without notice. Most changes are updated between Christmans and New-years but if changes are found to be necessary throughout the year we will update as needed.
Common Questions
New Customer?
The first visit with a new customer is always that fun one. we do our bet to take this opportunity, not only to evaluate the concerns you have but, also to become familiar with your overall needs. We do our best to not only find the best repair but also to meet your mechanical and financial needs.
Because Mobile Mechanics all operate differently, there is a lot to learn about what each one does and does not do as well as how they operate and if they can be counted on. That is part of the reason we work they way we do. Being in business since 2015 and positioning ourselves to be able to handle almost ALL of your mechanical needs we hope to be a contact that reduces your stress. The one catch to this… Because we handle almost all of the mechanical repairs for our customers, our clientele list tends to stay on the smaller side. In fact in 2024 we became so overwhelmed with the amount of new customers and the work that was needed that we had to stop actively taking on new customers
When will you arrive?
We do all that we can to be prompt to all of our appointments. If we are late, it should only be by a few minutes depending on traffic. Any more than that we will attempt to contact you to let you know so that we do not waste your time.
Where are you able to do the work?
We can work on vehicles most anywhere the property owner is ok with giving consideration to safety and repair requirements. Dilly’s Mobile will need
- Space to park near the vehicle being serviced
- Located on a surface that is level or as close to as possible
- Concrete or asphalt is preferred for safety reasons if the vehicle needs to be lifted for any reason.
What should I do If I think of other work I need/ want to be done?
If you happen to think of additional work that you want to be done. please contact us via Email or Text and let us know ahead of time. Because we are mobile our trucks are loaded with the tools and supplies needed to complete the scheduled work for that day. Additional work may require additional tools or supplies.
How much will my repair or service cost?
In most cases, we will provide an estimate for repairs prior, and as noted on the estimate, there may be minor variations but they are limited and anything above those variations must be agreed upon by you prior to being completed. We do all that we can to stay on the estimated amount. In the case of Diagnostics, depending on the severity of the issue, most diagnostics are started with a base of 1 hour and close communication with you as the progress takes place.
How long will the repair take?
Most repairs will have a quoted time based on what is called “Book Rate” depending on the complexity of the repair Dilly’s mobile suggests allowing up to twice that amount of time. This allows for unforeseen issues as well as prevents rushing the work.
Do I need to be present during the repair?
No, In most cases repairs will move more quickly when we are allowed to focus on the work we are doing however we are not against you watching. We believe that your understanding of your vehicle is very important and seeing how a repair is completed is one way to accomplish that. Please do keep in mind that This does slow the process as we have to monitor your safety in addition to ours, as well as the time it takes to answer questions and explain the processes.
Can I bring my repair to you instead of you coming to me?
Yes, In fact, that is recommended for non-rush repairs that the item can be left for a few hours. For Small engines, Bicycles, and trailers, it is recommended to drop them off. All drop-offs are by appointment only though Please contact us for details by text or Email.
How can I pay my invoice?
We offer a variety of payment methods. Cash, Credit Card, Venmo, cashapp, and Paypal
I was already quoted from another shop – can you beat their price?
“Yes, often I can beat the prices of other shops, however, Prior to doing any work, I will evaluate the work they quoted and determine if the work is really needed and how important the work is based on your budget and your needs. I often see work that is being sold that is either not really needed or not needed for some time.
Can I provide my own Parts?
Although we are not against you providing your own parts, due to liability issues we are not allowed to install customer-supplied parts. We do however do our best to be competitive in our pricing and often can get it for the same price as you for quality trusted parts.
Don’t see your question?
